J.E., while it's not a totally clear divide between Democrats and GOP on the environment, these beginnings of the backlash to the environmental safeguards from the seventies does turn into a political football, with Democrats siding (at least in part) with environmentalists and the GOP turning more and more into clear-cutting, climate denying friends of big money.
