May I politely remind you that the current administration is responsible for the most fossil fuel extraction in our history.....

I'm close to the clean getaway!!!

Still, I will not give up the worldwide wedding entirely. I'm gonna break down and have a satellite phone for no other reasons to stay in contact with people like you.

I sincerely missed you.

I love all of this! $7 billion for rooftop solar! Regardless of who is president, local and state policies can support and encourage adoption. Eventually, we will be "mining" all available solar spaces, like parking lots and the rooftops of big box retailers. As for the plight of desert ecosystems, one issue is that they aren't as "charismatic" as, say, redwood forests. And, they are less accessible because of weather and infrastructure. But anyone who has spent quality time in a desert loves them. So, the question to me is not just "stopping" the destruction of deserts, it's how to build love for them?

Individual energy self-sufficiency and community micro grids are the only path towards sustainability. You cannot replace one industrial complex paradigm with another.

The nation wide and regional grid models have proven to be wasteful, ridiculously high maintenance and lacking in efficiency insecurity. Nothing more than a design specifically pointed toward corporate donor class benefactor profiteers.

Thanks a lot! So glad you like it. You bring up a great point, how to encourage folks to appreciate the desert. Maybe a Ken Burns series on deserts?

I hadn't heard about covering the canals in SoCal. Conserving that water is important, especially considering the various environmental and cultural costs associated with that diversion system.

And thanks for the hat tip!

Yeah, when I was in grad school, I wrote a paper proposing covering the canals. I didn’t think of using panels to do it. It’s a total win-win.
