Have you considered a motor bike? I recently have bought a Tracker from CCM https://www.ccm-motorcycles.com/ and love it. I recommend if you enjoy it!!

I really like motorcycles. I had one several years ago and rode it A LOT! Right now, however, an electric bike suits my purposes better.

It's exciting to read of San Diego becoming more bike friendly! I love that city...

My city remains decidedly dangerous for bikers, so I have actually reducing cycling, sadly.

A few weeks ago I toured UC Santa Barbara with my teen and loved how it looked like Amsterdam or Copenhagen on campus! Almost no one has a car, and everyone cycles. Wide, dedicated, and BUSY bike lanes all over campus. Good weather helps!

I’m sorry to hear your city isn’t bike friendly. It makes a big difference even if you’re not cycling. Like your recent experience in Santa Barbara, just being in a place where folks have bike lanes and cycle can make me happy, even if I’m not on a bike.

Good for you! I can't wait to hear how it goes. My hubby said I can't buy one until he actually sees me riding my regular bike. Of course, in Ontario I'd only get use out of it for 2 1/2 seasons of the year...

Good on you, Paul! Enjoyed reading this. E-bikes are super popular here. I have fun trying and failing to keep up with people 'with a lot more life experience' on e-bikes on my 10-km commute. It's great how they, along with better bike infrastructure, are helping so many to get out of cars and onto bikes.

Love this! I agree safety is a huge concern for cyclists, and as someone who lives at the bottom of a hill, I'm always opting for an e-bike over a traditional one when I have to go north. More protected bike lanes (not just lines of paint) help tackle the first problem, and my city's bikeshare program, which offers both traditional bikes and e-bikes, has been great for the second.

Hey Paul! Congrats on the e-bike! I love mine. It expands your range and options, it’s wonderful. (Sent you a message on Facebook, I didn’t have your contact info:). )

I don't know if I got the Facebook message. So far the bike's great! It peddles really well even without the motor. It's a BIG help on the hills. I'm going for a pleasure ride with a friend in about an hour.

I'll look him up. I sometimes listen to KPBS traffic for fun.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard anybody talk about traffic and fun in the same sentence.

I live in Rome, Italy now. San Diego traffic is a barrel of laughs in comparison.
