Great post and I agree it will take policy change, not just individual choices, to address this huge problem

How should we (us humans) live? What is humanity’s destiny?

Some say….

“The earth was made for humanity and humanity was made to rule it. “

This thinking has only been prevalent for the past two thousand years.

But look what it has done!

Prior to that, humans were part of the chaos… the “red tooth and claw” of the wild earth…

"Once, we lived in harmony with nature as herders, taking only what we needed. But with the advent of agriculture, we began to settle and develop the land. Hamlets grew into boroughs, towns into cities, and eventually urban centers. As our urban glacier expanded, the biodiversity of the landscape diminished. It seems that exponential growth in our cities has led to exponential decreases in biodiversity."

To be clear, the population growth is a function of food supply. It is NOT just red meat.

Is it any better to clear trees for solar panel farms or 17 million trees chopped down in SNP's Scotland to clear way for wind farms?

We must protect the photosynthetic factories and biodiversity on the plant which is in competition with feeding the exploding population and the ever expanding urban glacier.
